Stumbling Stones in Hamburg

Besides conducting research on bilingualism, I have contributed to the project Stolpersteine (literally "Stumbling Stones"), which are small memorial stones in sidewalks outside the houses of people who were murderd by the Nazi regime.

I researched the biographies of three of these victims who lived in my home town Hamburg using primary sources from the Third Reich in the Hamburg State Archive. These biographies have been published in a book (Meyer, 2007) and are also available online:
